I was reading through the Conan O'Brian/Canada controversy (if you don't know about it, check it out here:

I know Canada does not share our Constitution, but they do claim to celebrate the value of free speech.
I was struck with this thought: are we beginning to see the death of the freedom of speech?
I understand that if speech is an order to cause violence, that is unconstitutional. But short of that, shouldn't "hate" speech be Constitutionally protected?
Even basions of "free" thought, like the internet, are carefully censored. Those who express extremely unpopular points of view are told to "shut up" and labels like "bigot" are applied.
What do you think?
In your responses, you can even tie the issue in to the Janet Jackson boob fiasco and talk about censorship from that angle.
